The Black Meridian is an ongoing archive curating photographs, documents, and material culture from Black communities across the globe. It is built on a simple conviction: that every culture within the Black diaspora is distinct, significant, and deserving of its own recognition, and that something powerful happens when those cultures are brought into conversation with each other. What they share and what separates them both deserves to be celebrated.
2025- Ongoing This archive belongs to the diaspora. The Black Meridian was created on the understanding that the most important images and documents from Black communities around the world are not in institutions. They are in homes, boxes, family albums, and the hands of the people who have chosen to keep them. If you have photographs, documents, or family material you would like considered for the archive, send them in for submission.Contribute to the archive
